New
Anemometer Goes Up On Swinging Bridge
When Grandfather Mountain reported 200 mph winds on
January 24, 2006, experts from the meteorological
community spoke up to say that Grandfather's wind
meter was giving inflated readings because it was
located on the top of a building. After a year of
discussion with the experts, the Mountain has installed
a new anemometer atop the Mile High Swinging Bridge
in hope of collecting more accurate wind speed data.

Grit Goes on Sale in March!
When
drilling began for a new well at the parking lot next
to the Mile High Swinging Bridge, one byproduct was
an interesting substance we're calling Grandfather
Grit. The amazing 750 million-year-old bore dust is
now being packaged in plastic bottles shaped like
a little bear. Grandfather Grit, drilled rock
from the mile high well on Grandfather Mountain,
will be available in Grandfather's gift shops in March!
